Research provided by the NCT found that around 38% of new fathers become concerned about their own Mental Health, with studies showing that around 1 in 10 Fathers experience PND. Similarly to mothers, there are no direct explanations as to why a father may develop PND, and like mothers, they too have to adapt to the new family unit and often this can be quite unsettling and challenging. It is important for men to seek support should they feel they are experiencing Postnatal Depression, your GP can offer advice on further support. You can also get involved in Men’s Mental Health Groups, including our own PopStart Group or visit Men Tell Health for general Men’s Mental Health Support.
